malcolm-wilson-rallyThe BTRDA heads to Cockermouth, the home of M-Sport World Rally Team for the Malcolm Wilson Rally on the 7th March. The rally, named after the owner of the M-Sport Rally Team who has led Ford’s assault on the World Rally Championship for over years now, the rally begins in Cockermouth with scruitineering and signing on-site at M-Sport before heading to Penrith where the main service hault will be held.

Paul Bird is looking to build on his first round win at The Wyedean Forestry Rally. Paul and navigator, Aled Davies won the event last year in their Fuchs Silkolene backed Ford Focus WRC prepared by Dom Buckley Motorsport. Having been runner-up in the championship the team are in no mood to be dropping points anywhere. Therefore the Focus WRC has, as usual, underwent thorough precautionary checks to give Paul every chance of victory.

Brian Bell has had his first venture into the woods for many years in a car very similar to Bird’s. Along with Matthew Whattam on the notes, Brian will be looking to become more familiar in the new car and build some more confidence up as he does so. Most importantly he will be looking to have an enjoyable day which off course is the main thing for all our customers.

Another of our customers that is entered in the rally is Andy Kelly. A customer of ours from the 1990’s right through until the present has seen him go from a variety of different Mitsubishi Evo’s to a Mk 1 escort in the last couple of years. A man that is with every rally he does in the Escort, getting alot more competitive and again a customer who just loves rallying.

With the 2 wheel drive 1400cc cars setting off from M-Sport before the 4 wheel drive cars it could be an early start for some of them. Most of the details of the rally can be found on the event website here but for any spectators looking for information on stage access and times then go straight here.
